Mainnet and Beyond: October 2024

Introduction

This past month we've been working closely with our partners building on Avail DA and participating at ETHGlobal SF’s hackathon, while gearing up for Devcon. Let’s get to it!

Highlights

• Spoke at ETHGlobal SF and Cosmoverse Dubai
• Re-released A Guide to Selecting the Right Data Availability Layer
• Announced partnerships with Sophon, Symbiotic, FalconX, CryptoStake, Koni Stack, GR1D Network, Native Network and Nuffle Labs

Technical Update

• Ongoing work to improve the client libraries for interacting with the Avail network, especially Avail Rust. As well as the associated documentation and examples. If you’re using our libraries, or plan on using them to interact with Avail, please provide feedback as this helps us improve them further. 
• Working on improvements to the light client, such as better handling of RPC connections, and releasing new light client versions.

Network Update

• AIP-4: This program focuses on using Avail Foundation funds to nominate to community validators, supporting their election into the active set. This helps increase decentralization within the validator group / network due to the nomination program selection criteria. More on AIP-4.
• Active set expansion: The latest transparency report from the technical committee outlines a validator set expansion, aimed at strengthening network stability and decentralization. Transparency Report 7.

Events

Our team had an incredibly productive week in San Francisco during ETHGlobal SF working alongside developers to help them build and innovate. 

At Cosmoverse Dubai, Anurag spoke alongside Celestia’s Founder Mustafa, Helius CEO Mert, and dYdX Foundation CEO Charles for the "Modular vs. Monolithic" debate, moderated by chainyoda. The discussions dove deep into whether modularity really matters in blockchain, with Anurag sharing his insights on the power of modular architectures in scaling web3.

This past month, Avail was a sponsor at Shanghai Blockchain Week. It was fantastic meeting our China community. The innovation and energy this community brings is truly inspiring.
