Avail has launched an initial set of grants aimed at supporting the development of Rollup Infrastructure to power the next wave of innovative blockchain applications. The grants cover three different categories with each category accepting proposals from multiple teams, providing many opportunities for the community to get involved. Take a look at the RFP categories below to see how you and your team can contribute towards building rollup infra the community can leverage.
If you’re more of a lone wolf looking to make individual contributions, you can get rewarded for working on issues listed in Avail’s Uncharted exploration projects.
What is Avail’s RFP Program?
The RFP program helps kick start Avail’s community development and is made up of structured blocks of work for development teams to take on. Developers first submit a proposal to be reviewed, and once accepted, your team can begin working on and submitting development milestones.
The proposal process is straightforward and teams get rewarded for their contributions. You can submit your proposals using this form which shows how you plan to achieve the features outlined in the RFP, and your suitability as a development team. If you have any questions about the RFPs, or the process you can reach out to the team on Discord under the #grants channel, or send us your query via this form.
Let’s check out the first 3 RFPs in the Avail grants program, and keep an eye out for more on the way.
1. DA Adapters

The DA adapters category is a critical piece of Rollup Infra which helps stitch components within the ecosystem together, allowing developers to quickly and easily use Avail’s data availability solution within their Rollup stack of choice.
Avail is a relatively low-level layer which prioritizes producing and securing general purpose blockspace for the data availability needs of other blockchains. Most developers will interact with Avail via an SDK or Rollup-as-a-Service provider abstracting away the complexity of setting up and managing their own DA solution.
The DA Adapters category is designed to make Avail integrated across a wide array of Rollup ecosystems and partners. Current DA adapters already being built by the team include Polygon zkEVM, Optimism’s OP Stack and more.
We’re looking to include adapters with other Rollup Infra too such as Arbitrum Orbit, Fuel, Astria, SHARP, Dojo and many more. To get more details on this category and how you can get involved, check out the RFP for DA Adapters.
2. Avail Wallet Support
- Accepting one or multiple proposals: Multiple
- Submit by: Ongoing
- Selection by: Ongoing
- RFP Category: infrastructure
- Discuss the RFP here: Link
- Application Form: Link
Avail is built as a substrate based blockchain with some tweaks and modifications for the purposes of providing a light-weight data availability layer for Rollup developers. Existing wallets need some tweaking in order to integrate with the Avail blockchain too.
Being a base layer of the Rollup stack, Avail wallets should make it easy for a variety of users to pay transaction fees and post transactions onto Avail. Teams building Avail wallets will need to prioritize both a seamless user experience and focus on specific use cases like helping validators and other infra providers manage their accounts with Avail.
We’re looking for well accomplished teams to tackle this category with prior wallet experience. To learn more see the RFP for Avail Wallet Support.
3. Long-Term Block Data Storage
- Accepting one or multiple proposals: Multiple
- Submit by: Ongoing
- Selection by: Ongoing
- RFP Category: infrastructure
- Discuss the RFP here: Link
- Application Form: Link
Data Availability is not data storage. The primary goal of Avail is to make transaction data available for other blockchains, not keep it around forever.
With suitable long-term block data storage options Avail can begin pruning data while allowing developers access to historical data via other solutions. This historical data is no longer required for the blockchain that created it to operate but can be useful for analytics and other use cases.
The long-term block data storage category welcomes teams who can provide reliable long-term storage of block data, tailored to the needs of Avail’s network. To learn more check out the RFP for long-term block data storage.
