Avail To Power Consumer Entertainment Onchain with Sophon

Sophon, a consumer-led blockchain with a user-centric philosophy, is positioned to become the leading gaming and entertainment-focused chain. With the goal of prioritizing unparalleled user experiences, Sophon has chosen to use Avail DA and Avail’s Light clients in a pivotal integration for both ZKsync and Avail ecosystems.

This partnership will see Avail DA underpinning gaming, social, art, AI, prediction markets, and other consumer focussed apps built on Sophon. These apps thrive in a low latency & high throughput environment to deliver rich user experiences. Avail DA is a cost effective and future proof solution that achieves Sophon’s vision perfectly with native support for KZG commitments and Data Availability Sampling. Avail’s Light Client technology will also support Sophon’s decentralized infrastructure, empowering end-users with instantly verifiable data availability guarantees.

From its incubation by Merit Circle to strategic partnerships with Beam, Zentry, Mirai Labs and Aethir, Sophon is establishing itself as the go-to platform for developers and users alike. Led by former head of the ZKsync DeFi ecosystem Seb, and backed by an all-star team, Sophon is introducing a tech stack that prioritizes scalability and seamless user experiences to the enormous online entertainment industry. Sophon is preparing to launch on mainnet soon, with the backing of Matter Labs and the ZKsync ecosystem. This flagship launch will illustrate the full potential of combining two advanced blockchain scaling technologies, ZK Stack and Avail.

Seb, Co-Founcer and CEO at Sophon said “Maintaining data availability and ensuring transaction integrity while keeping costs manageable is a complex task. For a platform like Sophon, these challenges are magnified.” Avail directly addresses these issues, providing an efficient and highly scalable off-chain DA mechanism that’s optimized for use with the ZK Stack. “Avail DA is both a resilient and future-proof choice for Sophon, which is going to be important as ZK begins to establish itself as the new baseline in performance for user-centric applications.”

Verify Anywhere With Avail’s Light Client Technology

Avail’s light client technology will play a key role in supporting Sophon’s decentralized infrastructure. The Avail Light Client samples data posted to Avail’s blockchain, and can run in the background on low powered devices such as a user’s phone or laptop.

Users running light clients help secure the network by independently verifying that all the network’s data is available, and in the same form in which it was submitted. Sampling can take place as soon as new blocks are finalized because Avail DA has validity proofs embedded within the protocol.

“Putting an Avail Light Client in a user’s hand is like giving them the ability to instantly verify the entire network’s data availability, even with the high throughput requirements of a network like Sophon.” Anurag Arjun, Avail Co-Founder.

Accelerated Avail Adoption

Avail is quickly establishing itself as a crucial ingredient in new ZK blockchains. Just last month an integration with Lens, another blockchain with high data throughput requirements built with the ZK Stack was announced, bringing onchain social networks to Avail.

A key driving factor is that Avail DA is unparalleled in its performance for ZK tech among DA layers with native validity proof and DAS support. This has begun to establish Avail as the obvious choice for builders looking to enjoy the full potential of ZK technology. With near-instant transactions, subsecond completion times and low, predictable fees a reality, ZK tech can now provide a significant, competitive advantage to developers.

Avail’s modular DA layer went live on mainnet in July and Sophon’s public mainnet launch is expected before December 2024 providing multiple opportunities to build with Avail. Led by former Polygon co-founder Anurag Arjun, Avail earlier raised $75 million in funding, from high profile investors like Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Dragonfly Capital and Cyber Capital.
