Get your laptop out, it’s time to start building!
The Avail Core Dev Programme welcomes developers from anywhere in the world to build software that contributes to, or enhances, Avail and its mission to build a connected and thriving blockchain ecosystem.
Introducing: The Avail Core Dev Programme
The Avail Core Dev Programme is run by the Avail Foundation and follows a structured format, clearly outlining the requirements, timelines and compensation available for specific projects.
It’s like a public RFP board mixed with a grants programme, designed for forward-thinking developers who want to test their skills by meaningfully contributing to the Avail ecosystem without joining full-time. A variety of projects will be posted overtime, including analytics tools and dashboards for monitoring core onchain activity, protocol updates, demos and more.
Tasks will be posted, and when you see one that matches your skill set, you are encouraged to submit an application.
A description for each task will be provided, including:
- In depth clarity on the scope of work required
- Resources, inspiration and design examples (where relevant)
- Expected Timeline
- Remuneration
- Selection Criteria
The Avail development team will also be available to collaborate on tasks as per the project’s requirements.
The Selection Process
Applications received before the deadline will be reviewed by the Core Dev Management Committee, where an applicant will be chosen to complete the work. Selection is based on previous and related work experience.

Successful applicants will be contacted to kick off the project. Upon completion, the agreed amount will be transferred and an update for the task will be shared publicly with the community.
Foundation Selection Criteria
Each task will be posted with a detailed selection criteria. The Core Dev Management Committee will be looking for provable experience developing similar projects in the past. This could be via code repos, links to active projects and/or other relevant credentials.
The Core Dev Management Committee
The selection process is governed by a volunteer committee made up of community contributors who believe in building in the open. They’ll review applications, ensure fair selection, and keep the process transparent for the community.
The committee will begin with a selection of Avail members followed by ecosystem partners with varying expertise, in future iterations wider community participation in the committee will be available.
Transparency by Default
- All task descriptions, submitted proposals (minus sensitive info) and outcomes will be made public.
- Our goal is to make this a trusted, accountable way to work with Avail.
New Tasks
New tasks will be distributed on Discord and via our newsletter, with the first task going out next week, so join the #dev-announcements channel to start getting updates.
We’re bringing clear direction, funding, and a space for builders to shine, welcome to Avail’s Core Dev Programme!
